The Washington Companies Employee Family Scholarship Program For Post-Secondary Education and Training

 

Purpose:
To provide financial assistance to family members of employees of the Washington Companies who are attending an accredited university, college, vocational technical school, community college, college of technology, or trade school.

Scholarship Amount:
$1000 per semester or $666 per quarter, subject to the maximum of up to $8,000 per lifetime per person

Eligibility:
Please note: This grant is taxable income to the employee and will be subject to withholding and payroll taxes. It will be included as taxable wages on the employeeÆs W-2 statement.

  • Employee must be full-time and employed continuously within an eligible Washington Company for a minimum of one year prior to submission of the application. For further clarification of employee eligibility, please contact the Scholarship Administrator, or you may consult the Human Resources Director or the Employee Handbook of the applicable Washington Company.
  • Applicant must be a child or spouse of an eligible Washington Company employee.
  • Applicant must be a full-time student of a program pursuing a one year, two year, four year, or graduate course of study to obtain a graduate degree, undergraduate degree, associate degree, diploma, or a certificate.
  • Applicant must be attending an accredited university, college, vocational technical school, community college, college of technology, or trade school in the U.S.
  • Applicant must establish and maintain a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A., or, if pursuing certification from a trade school, must show evidence of successful completion of the program.
  • Applicant must re-apply each semester/quarter in order to receive funds.
  • Lifetime contribution per qualifying child and/or spouse of an eligible employee is $8,000.
  • The lifetime and annual maximum benefits apply even if more than one parent is employed by a Washington Company.

Application Deadline:
This application will not be processed until such time as the student is formally registered for school. Students must submit their applications after formal registration but no later than 30 days after the term has started. If the application is not received within 30 days from the beginning of the current academic term, the student will be ineligible to receive a grant for that term.
